Four people have died in three separate road incidents last night.
Two people died when two cars collided on State Highway 10, at the junction of Puketona Road in Oromahoe in the Far North, about 6pm.
Six people - two in one car and four in the other - were involved.
Police said two people in the second vehicle were fatally injured in the crash.
The other pair in that vehicle were also injured, but their injuries were not life-threatening, authorities said.
Two people in the first vehicle were also injured, but not seriously.
About 15 minutes later, a woman died when a car and ute collided on the corner of State Highway Two and Whakatiki Street in Upper Hutt.
Two other people were taken to Hutt Hospital with moderate injuries by Wellington Free Ambulance.
At 7.40pm, a woman died after being hit by a bus on the corner of Te Ngae Road and Coulter Road in Rotorua.
St John attended the incident and treated one person. It did not transfer anyone to hospital.
