Boy hurt in Bay of Plenty motorbike accident now stable

An 11-year-old boy who was seriously hurt in a motorbike accident in the Bay of Plenty is now in a stable condition in hospital.

The boy was airlifted to Tauranga Hospital from Matakana Island about 7.30pm last night.

Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter pilot Todd Dunham said he was riding a motorbike and collided with his brother on another motorbike.

He said the way he fell meant he suffered a serious leg injury, and needed to go to hospital urgently.
