A man has surrendered to police this morning and will appear in Porirua District Court today charged with robbery.
His surrender came after police launched a hunt for a man who carried out an armed robbery at a BNZ bank in the northern Wellington suburb of Tawa on Friday afternoon.
The man entered the Oxford St bank about 3.30pm and demanded money from a female teller, who was told he had a firearm.
She gave the man an unknown amount of money and he fled on foot, Detective Senior Sergeant Mike Oxnam of Porirua police said.
A 28-year-old man gave himself up at Paraparaumu police station after seeing himself on security camera footage, a police central communications spokesman said.
