Police have renewed calls for any sightings of Stephen Tracey, 12 days on since the Mount Maunganui man went missing.

Stephen Michael Tracey, 37, was last seen by his father in Mount Maunganui about 5pm on Saturday, September 27.

Senior Sergeant Deirdre Lack said police were still looking for Mr Tracey, who had not been forgotten about despite the highly public search for five-year-old Jack Dixon who was swept away by a large wave four days after Mr Tracey was last seen.

"As far as we are concerned he is still missing and we would like to find him," she said.

Mr Tracey told his family he was going for a walk and would return in about an hour but he has not been seen since. He did not take his wallet or phone with him, which they said was out of character.

Police have carried out a number of searches with the assistance the Mount Maunganui Surf Lifesaving Club and local search and rescue volunteers, but there have been no sightings and Mr Tracey has not been in contact with his family.

Police said Mr Tracey was of medium build and about 183cm tall. He was last seen wearing a T-shirt, shorts and sandals.
