ELEVEN-year-old Renee Nyman did the best of the young Wanganui skating team in the weekend's winter league meeting.
With the older skaters sitting this one out due to either injury or coaching commitments, it was Nyman who shone by scoring 120 points from the five stages.
She finished a creditable 16th from
42 starters, well clear of her nearest rival in her age group (not yet 12). She also finished ahead of half the junior girls field (not yet 15). Thirteeen-year-old Sophie Orlowski with 88 points and 23rd place was the best of the novices. She has proven she's ready for the step up to junior women's section.
In 31st place with 59 points was 11-year-old Frankie Orlowski, also ready to make the step up from novice to juvenile girls. Nine-year-old Anthony Orlowski was 34th with 52 points and two places back on 42 points was seven-year-old Liam Percell.
Just when you where thinking there couldn't possibly be any more Orlowskis, seven-year-old Dominic with 33 points finished 37th.
In 40th place with 19 points was the tiny figure of six-year-old Cullen Goznel. James Mitchel-Anyon was 11th in the time trial but a knee injury forced his withdrawal from the rest of the stages.
