The strength of junior versus senior sport in Wanganui has been highlighted by the nomination list for the Wanganui Sports Awards. There have been 24 nominations for the individual junior award and 10 for the junior team award. This compares to five nominations for individual senior and three for senior team. Sport Wanganui co-ordinator Travis White said he was pleased with the late influx of nominations. "It has got up to the same level of entries as we have had in past years," he said. "There are a few categories we would have liked a few more entries in, especially the senior categories." An awards dinner will be held on March 31 to recognise the various category winners.
