Former international Stu Gillespie is back coaching Wanganui's rep cricket team.
He takes over from Drew Morrison, who is stepping down for family reasons.
Gillespie, now in his 50s, says he is champing at the bit to have a second term. His first ended a few years ago.
"I've got no kids at
home now, so I've got the time to do the job again," said Gillespie, who played one test and 27 one-dayers for New Zealand.
"I'm really looking forward to getting into it.
"I've had a chat with Stu Gill (chairman of Cricket Wanganui) and I will have another one with him this week.
"I also want to talk to Drew and get his thoughts on where the rep team is at."
But Gillespie, who conceded he had watched little local club or rep cricket over the past couple of years due to work commitments, said he will be basically starting from scratch.
He recently completed a coaching course with New Zealand Cricket in Palmerston North and will soon talk to a couple of prospective coaching assistants.
Gill said he was delighted to have Gillespie back in charge, confident he would continue the progress made by Morrison over the past few seasons.
