He's bowled in tandem with Jacob Oram, skittled Daniel Vettori, nicked out an Australian one-day player and his best figures are 8-3.
Now Ben Blackett is about to play club cricket in Wanganui.
Blackett, 21, who attained age-group rep status while in the Northern Districts, has moved to the River City in
a bid to kickstart his cricket career.
A car salesman with Integrity, he has joined the revived Tech club and can't wait to get down to business.
He's had a good look at Victoria Park and met his new team-mates, whom he believes will be very competitive.
Blackett, an inswing left-armer who is a handy middle-order bat (he has four career centuries), went to the same Hamilton school as New Zealand captain Vettori. He's met Vettori a couple of times, once when selected to bowl to him in the nets before the Black Caps' one-dayer against Australia a few years back.
"I bowled him and I don't think he was too impressed," said Blackett.
With Oram as his partner, he also enjoyed dismissing Aussie all-rounder Brad Hogg, now retired.
Blackett, who as a schoolboy took eight wickets for three runs on a trip to Melbourne with the Northern 17s, is not talking up his debut season in Wanganui.
He had knee surgery last year and his priority this summer is to "get my career back on track".
"I'm keen to play for Wanganui but first I want to do well at club level," he said.
