Looking good, feeling good ... It's recession proof.
Just ask Helene Belliss, owner of the Wanganui beauty therapy business Simply Skin, which has just relocated to renovated premises on St John's Hill, across the road from the shopping centre.
"Simply Skin has a large client base and every week the numbers are
growing with people trying our services and rebooking," Mrs Belliss said.
There had been a huge increase in foot traffic since opening in the new premises.
"The salon's amazing inside and clients love the luxurious interiors. They say it's a wonderful experience to have a treatment in such beautiful surroundings."
Mrs Bellis said clients were the experts who helped her decide where the demand was when she introduced new treatments. "Our clients come to be pampered, for the relaxation, where they can get rid of their stress."
She is far from finished growing the business and plans, over time, to add to her staff of five and widen the workspace.
For now, she and her four therapists will continue to specialise in spa body-treatment and beauty therapy, as well as introducing new techniques.
She said all staff were fully qualified, and regularly attended international and national training.
"Bryley and the rest of staff are wonderful. I am so lucky to have the quality and expertise of my team."
She is proud that her business has been chosen as one of only three beauty salons nationwide to offer treatments using a top British luxury product.
"Having this company in partnership with Simply Skin is amazing for us, as it opens up an overwhelming spa experience for all our customers. Wanganui doesn't know how lucky it is to have this calibre of day spa and service available."
Mrs Belliss and staff had worked hard to gain the rights, but she was sure the business would benefit, as would the clients.
