The Wanganui senior men's hockey team need to win their next two games to stay in contention at the national tournament in Hamilton.
Coach Les Wilson said Canterbury were "too sharp, too quick" for the Wanganui side on Monday beating the squad 6-2, while Waikato won 3-2 yesterday.
"The Canterbury
team were just too sharp, too quick for us yesterday, but we played pretty well against Waikato. It was 3-2 to Waikato at halftime and we held them throughout the second spell," Wilson said.
Wanganui play Southland today without talented inside back Redverf Wilbur who tore a groin muscle against Waikato yesterday.
"That's a bit of a blow.
