Sam Hone is a rare male phenomenon who loves children, adores his partner Jess, and cooks and cleans ... he's a regular top bloke.
And for all of that he has, at 24, just been named the Wanganui/Taranaki/Manawatu regional winner of the nation-wide Durex Sexiest SNAG (sensitive new age guy) competition.
Partner Jess Hayward, who was working as a lifeguard at the Splash Centre during her pregnancy, entered her Sam into the competition because he was special in every way, she said.
During her pregnancy she would come home from work tired and hungry and Sam always had the dinner cooked and the dishes done, she said
"I can't tell you how wonderful that was for me," she said.
Last Saturday their baby boy, Ryder, was born and on Monday, after a week off, Sam heads back to his work as a builder.
Jess discovered the competition in a newspaper earlier this month and said she knew she had to enter Sam.
"Well, he's just so good and he deserves to win."
Sam's mum taught to him cook when he was a boy because she had to go out to work.
When she entered Sam, Jess said she had to write a small story about him.
"So I wrote about how we met when we were both out and about in town one night. It was November 2007 and Sam had a moustache for MOvember and was wearing a big cowboy hat."
Sam called her and asked her out a few days later, she said.
"He drove up in his ute, threw the door open and told me to jump in. Then he took me out for dinner ... to Burger King,"Jess said.
"Well, I never really thought of anywhere else," Sam laughed.
Durex says Sam definitely has the sexy X-factor. Wanganui can vote for Sam at the www.durexsexysnag.co.nz ... where all the finalists are now on show.
