The New Zealand Cadet Forces is a national youth development organisation with a military flavour that is raised by the community for the youth of that community and the youth leaders are all volunteers. This course provides these youth leaders with the knowledge and skills required to fulfil the responsibilities of a Cadet Force Officer. Some of the specialist areas covered on the course included; leadership, youth law and duty of care, presentation techniques and training, administration and public relations. As part of the course Jo also undertook a practical leadership exercise and associated risk management.
Commander Glen Stokes, the Commandant of New Zealand Cadet Forces has said the commissioning of Acting 2nd Pilot officer Moulder will bring the number of officers to 400 across the 99 Cadet Forces Units nationally. These officers provide a premier voluntary service to over 3000 cadets. The New Zealand Cadet Forces comprise the Sea Cadet Corps, the New Zealand Cadet Corps and the Air Training Corps and although is not part of the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF), is directed by the Chief of Defence Force, on behalf of the Minister of Defence, and is supported in partnership with the community.
