New Zealand's first Masterchef last week showed Wanganui students the finer points of healthy cooking.
Brett McGregor, the former teacher who won the first Masterchef TV competition, was in town for the Let's Cook with Parmco programme. The nationwide initiative is aimed at getting high school students more adventurous and passionate about preparing healthy food, and McGregor's Wanganui visit was his sixth of the programme.
A group of 21 students from Cullinane College, Wanganui High School and Wanganui Girls' College attended the Tuesday morning session, which was held at the WGC campus, where McGregor explained cooking a beef and broccoli stirfry.
Wanganui Girls' College teacher Prabh Mokha said McGregor was a "down-to-earth real guy with a passion for healthy food ... ".
