The man who died after his motorcycle collided with a car in Bulls on Thursday night has been named.
He was 26-year-old Hayden Tahau, and from the Taupo area, police say.
Mr Tahau failed to stop for police shortly before 7.30pm on Thursday night. He was driving at speed, and police started a short pursuit north of the town.
The pursuit was abandonned due to the way Mr Tahau was driving. Soon after that he collided with a car on Bridge St, in Bulls. A section of the street was closed for a while after that.
