The day was off to a rosy start at Jane Winstone Retirement Village in Whanagnui on Friday as residents enjoyed a special breakfast.
The Pink Ribbon Breakfast, to raise funds for breast cancer research was well supported by diners who each bought a $10 ticket.
Tiger Edmonds, Colin Milne andBruce Gollan said they enjoyed the smorgasboard of treats on offer.
"There is bacon, sausages, eggs, tomatoes and all you can eat so it's good value," said Mr Milne.
Pink balloons and glasses of pink sparkling wine provided a party atmosphere and staff had also joined the residents in wearing pink accessories for the occasion.
"I think we have raised a good amount to donate to the breast cancer foundation," said activities coordinator Rochelle Taylor.
"We have been running a raffle as well and sold a lot of tickets."
The breakfast is one of over 3000 held in New Zealand so far this month which have raised around $320,000 for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.
Pink Ribbon breakfasts raised 1.7 million dollars last year and this year the money will fund research projects and medical grants to help improve the survivorship of breast cancer in New Zealand.
