Fran Anderton of Frantic Glass is holding the official opening of her new glass studio this weekend.
From 2pm-5pm over Saturday and Sunday, Fran welcomes visitors to see where she will be producing contemporary glass.
"This is the culmination of a new build that was started in November last year. Friends and public will be able to view new work from the raw state to the finished pieces, and have an opportunity to buy direct from the maker.
"I completed a Glass Design and Production Diploma at UCOL in 2003 and in 2004 bought a property near the beach in Castlecliff. Initially the glass was crafted in the small area at the back of my garage with a casting kiln and minimal machinery. The new building, with large bi-fold doors opens out to a sheltered garden area. Half is dedicated to a small gallery and the other half is a coldworking workshop," says Fran.
Fran's new studio is at 138 Karaka St, Castlecliff (look for the rainbow striped flag).
