Kai Iwi School's roll has grown, pushing it to the top of the Ministry of Education's national priority building list.
The school now has a new library extension that has been given the big tick by its students who like the airy, spacious new facility and the artwork on the walls.
There are now seven new computer stations in their Cybery.
The teachers also have a network space within the resource room complete with great space-saving Lundia shelving.
The wide, roomy corridor and part of the resource room used to be an outdoor play area.
Principal Alistair White said one classroom was packed with the school's resources while the new building was being constructed, so during the term the school managed in cramped conditions.
DML Builders project-managed the construction which was designed by Gerald Cogan of DML.
