DIY trip earns bonus in form of Airpoints

Peter Gosnell, with Mitre 10 Mega Wanganui owner Hayden Gibson, got an unexpected bonus after shopping at the store.

Whanganui man Peter Gosnell left his local Mitre 10 Mega with much more than he realised during a visit this month for some decking stain.

After the routine trip to Mitre 10 Mega Wanganui, Mr Gosnell won 5000 airpoints in the home improvement retailers' national summer promotion, which will see 5000 Airpoints dollars rewarded every week for six weeks to a lucky shopper.

The promotion started at the end of December and runs until early February across the 82 Mitre 10 and Mitre 10 Mega stores throughout the country.

Mitre 10 customers who spend in-store or online and swipe their Airpoints card are in the draw to win one of the weekly prizes.

Mitre 10 Mega Wanganui store owner Hayden Gibson was rapt a local customer had claimed a prize.

"It's very exciting to have one of our local customers win, especially when there are so many entries every week," Mr Gibson said.

"It's been a busy few weeks for us, with lots of customers eager to kick into the new year with a bit of DIY.

Mitre 10 teamed up with Airpoints late last year, giving customers the chance to earn Airpoints dollars on Mitre 10 purchases, and redeem earned dollars through the online Airpoints Store for flights, accommodation, services or products, including Mitre 10 gift cards.
