Wanganui Collegiate School has a new headmaster, who will lead the school for the rest of 2017.
Ross Brown took over from previous headmaster, Chris Moller, at the start of term 3.
Mr Brown was the headmaster of Napier Boys' High School for nearly two decades, and has worked as a consultant for three other secondary schools.
He was awarded a New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to education.
Although Mr Brown is not from Whanganui, he has strong family connections to the city. His father's family is from Whanganui, and his parents met and married in Whanganui.
Mr Brown's wife, Anne Millward-Brown, has family who went to Wanganui Collegiate. Her father, E. A. Millward was a former mayor of Whanganui and a former board member of Wanganui Collegiate.
The couple will live in the headmaster's residence at the school during their time in Whanganui.
"We are both pleased to be living in such a historic building, and I look forward to carrying on the traditions and unique culture of Wanganui Collegiate School while preparing the school for the incoming headmaster in 2018," Mr Brown said.
