Plunket Whanganui has moved to new premises in the central city.
Administrator and Plunket committee member Claire Marara said the new centre, at 6 Bates St, opened on Monday in a refurbished building. It replaces the Heads Rd family centre and the clinic at St Mary's Church, which opened after Plunket's Campbell St building was forced to close due to earthquake-strengthening issues.
"We'll now offer all our usual services from one central hub, although we will still have a clinic at St Luke's in Castlecliff," Ms Marara said. Those services include child wellness checks, parent education group, coffee groups, nurse clinics, a mothers' exercise group and playgroup.
The new premises are now the work place for 10 staff - five Plunket nurses, two community health workers, an administrator and community service staff.
Ms Marara said the centre's first day had been busy, with many parents wanting to look at the new premises.
The building is owned by the local branch committee, who paid for it through fundraising.
