Policy changes in district plans that can either hinder or help Maori housing projects will be one of the themes of a conference in Wanganui this week.
The third National Maori Housing conference is hosted by the Whanganui Iwi Housing Forum and its national umbrella organisation, Te Matapihi Trust.
The conference opens at the War Memorial Centre in Wanganui tomorrow and closes on Saturday.
Te Matapihi chairman, architect Rau Hoskins, says the conference will look at the bigger picture of the conditions around planning and finance for papakainga.
"This year's conference is well timed, with the Maori housing strategy currently being developed by MBIE and Te Puni Kokiri.
