Hamilton has a new road.
Hague Road is the main road into and out of the Waikato Hospital campus and is named after a man who left a big hole in the staff of Waikato District Health Board's building programme office.
The road sign commemorating Brendan Hague was installed last week and now directs patients and visitors to Waikato Hospital off Pembroke and Selwyn streets as the main through road for the hospital.
At the time of his death in August 2011, Mr Hague had been a Waikato DHB (and its predecessors) staff member for 42 years. He was a key person in the $430 million Waikato Hospital building and redevelopment programme.
Building programme office project manager Ian Wolstencroft says it's excellent having Hague Road as a landmark rather than having to find Gate 1 off Pembroke St.
