However, Te Puke coach Craig Jeffries criticised the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union for not having referees and assistants wired up for proper communication.
"I am so disappointed with the union," Jeffries said. "Every week there are no comms and, had the assistant referees had them, that crucial second try would not have been allowed. It is simply not good enough."
Despite being unhappy with the referees, Jeffries still gave credit to Tauranga for their impressive performance which has them sitting clear at the top of the table.
Opotiki also thumped Paroa 41-11 and Mount Maunganui lost to Greerton Marist 26-20, missing out on points once again.
The Mount controlled territory and possession for long periods and had a fair amount of joy at the breakdown to boot.
They led 3-0 after 10 minutes, but were behind 12-3 at the break courtesy of a couple of clinical efforts on attack from the home side.
Mount blindside flanker Matty Axtens reduced the deficit to just two points at the start of the second half.
Brendan McKeown crashed over from close range to extend the lead to 17-10, before three successive penalty goals to Andrew Boyd stretched the lead to 26-10 on the hour mark.
That sparked a mini resurgence from the Mount, with the side charging over for an unconverted try in the corner to make it 26-15.
Despite a late driving try to Duncan Walker and a pair of Greerton players being shown yellow cards in the final stages, the home side hung on to record another win in what is fast becoming the club's finest season in the top flight for quite some time.
