Whakarewarewa have got their season off to a perfect start defeating Opotiki 48-0.

New fullback Whaimotu Craft-Chemis scored a hatrick for his new club as Whaka stormed to victory today at Puarenga Park.

Opotiki had two men sent to the bin during the game which did not help their cause.

Meanwhile, it was a nice welcome home for old Whaka player Ngarimu Simpkins, who is coaching the team this year.

The Baywide premier rugby season is not set to start until next weekend but Opotiki and
Whaka decided to move their fixture forward to today.
