Rotorua's Olympic rower Julia Edward won a bronze medal at the Holland Beker International Regatta in Amsterdam yesterday.
Julia Edward and crewmate Lucy Strack rowed heavyweight double sculls, instead of their usual lightweight.
"We raced heavyweight at this event to get a little more competition," said Edward.
"We used the
predominant tail wind at the Amsterdam Bosbaan rowing course to our advantage." The Rowing New Zealand women's double crew of Zoe Stevenson and Fiona Bourke won in a time of 06:46.91 minutes.
Canada finished second in a time of 06:54.48 minutes and Julia Edward and Lucy Strack finished third, one second behind Canada in 06:55.48 minutes.
