Ngongotaha look to bounce back

Ngongotaha AFC will look to get back to their winning ways this weekend when they clash with Tauranga City.

Ngongotaha were brought down to Earth last week in a 5-2 defeat against Whakatane Town.

However, they are still within striking distance of league leaders AFC Fury (Tauranga) and Tauranga Old Blues following their three-game winning streak to start the season.

Their game kicks off at 2.45pm today at Stembridge Rd.

Round five of the Waibop Federation 1 league will also see Rotorua United attempt to pull themselves off the bottom of the ladder.

They travel to Hamilton to play against Waikato Unicol today.

Meanwhile, the match of the round will see league leaders AFC Fury hosting Whakatane Town.

Whakatane Town have won two games and drawn two games. They looked promising last weekend in their victory over Ngongotaha.

On the other hand, Fury have been untouchable, with convincing wins in all their games this season.

This will be their first real test of the year and will give the club a good gauge for their title hopes.

In other games, Tauranga Old Blues host Melville, Cambridge host Matamata and Taupo host Otumoetai, where Taupo will also defend the Waibop Federation Challenge Shield.

Defending champions Taupo are still in search of their first win of the season as well as their first goal of the season.

Division two draw: Cambridge host Matamata, Old Blues host Papamoa, Tauranga Boys' College host Tauranga City, HRFC host West Hamilton, Te Awamutu host Tokoroa and Rotorua United bye.
