Fledgling professional Danny Lee has prescribed himself a little R and R ahead of a competitive return to South Korea.
The former Rotorua amateur star returned to his Dallas base this week after playing in the European Tour's KLM Open in Holland, where he finished 78th and earned €2679 ($4819).
Lee said
his immediate focus now was on recharging the batteries before heading to the country of his birth to play in the Kolon Korea Open next month.
"I need to rest," said the 20-year-old who was once ranked the number one amateur in the world.
In his first full year as a professional, Lee has travelled extensively, living on a diet of airports, hotels and golf courses.
"That's a golfer's life," he said.
"It's good to spend some time with my family. Staying with my family makes me feel really rested."
It won't be feet up the whole time for Lee however, with downtime still set to be full of golfing practise as he works to ingrain further swing changes.
"I'm not playing that great at the moment but I'm getting better - all I've got to do is get used to the [swing] changes," he said.
Working at home in Dallas isn't that easy at the moment with Lee describing the temperatures as "microwave hot".
He has been working on returning to basics and admitted he needed to work on some of the mental aspects of his game.
"My confidence is a little bit down but I'll get that fixed and I'll be ready," he said.
"I've got my swing to where I want and I'm just starting to get used to it now."
Lee has one more year to go on the two-year European Tour player's card he secured when he won the Johnnie Walker title in 2009. So far this year he has earned €85,000 ($153,000), surviving 10 cuts and sitting at 151 on the tour's rankings.
