Rotorua United have been relegated for the first time in the club's six-year history.

United were unable to avoid the drop on Saturday, losing to Tauranga Old Blues 6-0 at Neil Hunt Park.

Tauranga Old Blues took a 2-0 lead into the break before turning on a good performance in the second half to kill off any hopes for United.

United finished last this year in the Waibop Federation League and will play division two football next year.

The other team to be relegated will be Otumoetai or Melville, who still have one game to play.

Tauranga's AFC Fury have already won the Waibop Federation League with two games left to play.

Meanwhile, division two teams Tauranga Boys' College and Hukanui Rototuna FC have qualified for promotion into the Waibop Federation League.
