Derby day as league foes go toe to toe

It's derby day as far as Rotorua rugby league fans are concerned, with Ngongotaha facing off against Pikiao.

Rotorua's two premier rugby league teams will meet today at Puketawhero Park, for the first time this season.

Both teams have won two from three this season and will fight for second place on the table behind an undefeated Taupo side.

Pikiao will head into the game as favourites, riding a two-game winning streak in which they have scored 168 points and conceding just one try.

The game kicks off at 2.30pm.

In other premier games, Pacific (Tokoroa) host Taupo in what should be a good clash of two quality teams.

However, Pacific will need to play with a lot of heart if they are to take down a strong Taupo side who are high on confidence after three straight wins.

Forestland will be looking to put last weekend's result behind them after losing heavily to Pikiao in Rotorua.

They face off against Turangi today.
