From the Rotoiti club that brought Baywide rugby quality loose forwards like Wayne Ormond, Jason Emery and Joe Gotz, keep an eye out in the future for Zac Hohneck.
The 17-year-old No 8 had an impressive match during Saturday's colts final, helping his side to a 36-15 winagainst Mt Maunganui, scoring two tries in the process.
It was the Rotorua club's first Baywide title at any level.
Hohneck's second try was a display of raw pace and power as he received the ball just inside the Mount half and bumped off two would be tacklers before sprinting through a hole and crossing untouched.
The Bay of Plenty under-18 representative is a lump of a teen, standing 183cm tall and 100kg.
He has been naturally shaped for a robust game through competitive woodchopping, pig hunting and a diesel mechanic's apprenticeship.
He's scored 17 tries during the colts season and said Saturday's effort was a tribute to the fine coaching they received from Erin Cooper and Hone Cassidy.
"We were just trying to keep it simple, the same thing we've concentrated on all year,"he told the Daily Post.
Rototiti went into the final as the top team and thoroughly deserved the win.
Hohneck was in the thick of a driving forward pack which really rose to the occasion in the second spell when they were reduced to 13 men.
Daley Ruha and Jonathan Grace were sent to the sin bin following an ugly all in push-and-shove which dragged in four players from Rotoiti's bench.
The moment of madness threatened to take the gloss off their win but order was restored after a talking to by official Ash Lee.
Rotoiti had grabbed the lead early with Hohneck bursting over from the base of a 5m scrum.
Jamalh Moke Khan added the conversion and Rotoiti were on the way to the Colts' title.
Further tries by Trent Jennings, William Grace and Te Wana Maxwell saw them comfortably ahead 24-0 at the break.
Mount had a purple patch in the second spell with Josh Metuariki, David Lowe and Ryan Boshier getting a try each but their effort was too late.
