He said despite not winning gold, it was an incredible achievement to claim three medals at a world champs.
"It is very impressive," he said. "On the flip side, they went there to win so there will be elation tinged with disappointment."
He said the club had a good pool of riders at the moment.
"It is something that [Rotorua], as a club, are blessed with. We have got some top riders that are right at the pointy end of the field."
Hastings said the club also boasted other top riders, who did not travel to Rotterdam this year, but medalled at the world champs last year in Auckland.
Four families from the club got together on Thursday night to cheer on the local competitors, Hastings said.
They were also planning on getting together last night to watch updates on Jeanette Davies.
Local rider Davies raced late last night in the over 30-year-old women's cruiser class. Her event finished too late for publication.
New Zealand's elite riders will race this weekend at the world champs. Kawerau Olympian Sarah Walker will compete in the elite women's event.
