The Rotorua-based BayTrust Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Manupirua Bay on Lake Rotoiti to help a woman reported to have lost consciousness as the result of a suspected head injury.
It is understood the woman slipped and fell, hitting her head on the jetty at Manupirua Hot Springs on Fridayabout 7.30pm.
On arrival the helicopter hover-loaded a St John advanced paramedic to the site, as there was no safe place to land.
Once assessed, a 50-year-old Taumarunui woman was hover-loaded onto the helicopter before being flown to Rotorua Hospital for further treatment.
