Save A Whakatāne driver has been arrested after police spotted what they suspected to be a weapon in their vehicle.
A police spokesman said the driver was initially pulled over for alleged minor traffic infringements, on King St, just after midnight.
While the police were talking with the driver a suspected
firearm was seen by staff inside the vehicle, he said.
The driver of the vehicle was arrested and charges are pending.
