Rotorua voters will have more opportunities to hear from local election candidates next week.

Candidate events are being hosted by the Takiwai Rotorua Maori Business Network, Community Rotorua and the Rotorua branch of the National Council of Women of New Zealand (NCWNZ). All are free and open to the public.

The Takiwai meet the candidates event is at the Runanga Tea Rooms, Government Gardens on Monday at 6pm.

Hosted by Chey Milne, the candidates will be asked to address the question of "What do you see as the role of government in supporting iwi, hapu and whanau to realise their aspirations in the post-settlement era".

On Thursday candidates will be asked a series of questions about their stance on women's issues at an event hosted by NCWNZ with help from the Zonta Club of Rotorua. It is at St Luke's Anglican Church, 1223 Amohia St from 6pm.

NCWNZ Rotorua president Ann McKellar said candidates from National, Labour and NZ First would attend along with representatives from some of the other minor parties.

"NCWNZ encourages women of Rotorua to hear what candidates have to say and to exercise their vote."

Then on Friday, Community Rotorua is holding a Waiariki and Rotorua candidates forum from 12pm at QE Health, Whakaue St.

The event MC will be Rotorua district councillor Merepeka Raukawa-Tait.

Candidates will respond to set questions from 12pm to 1pm followed by an informal meet and chat over tea and coffee. If anyone has a question for the candidates, they can email it to manager@communityrotorua.org.nz.
