Volunteers' can-do attitude needed for foodbank appeal

On Monday residents of the marked Westbrook streets should listen for the fire sirens signalling collectors are near.

Feeling community minded, energetic and keen to stretch the legs after a day sitting in the office?

The Rotorua Daily Post Salvation Army foodbank Christmas Appeal can drive is being held in the Westbrook area after work on Monday.

More volunteers are needed for this worthwhile community exercise to help collect donations of non-perishable food items from Westbrook residents between 6pm and 8pm.

The boundary area for the collection can drive is Pandora Ave, Orion St, Pegasus Dr, Pukehangi Rd and Malfroy Rd, and streets in between.

Anyone who is interested in joining staff from the Post, Salvation Army, Rotorua MP Todd McClay's office, Rotorua Fire Service, Lake Okareka Volunteer Fire Brigade and Ritchies Transport should meet at the large parking area near the Westbrook Surgery between 5.30pm and 6pm.

For residents in the area, put your donated cans in a bag and listen out for the fire engine sirens coming down your street with collectors.

Money donations are also accepted but should be in a sealed envelope.

The appeal is expected to finish at 8pm.
