The Western Heights High School senior A boys' team have crashed out in the quarter-finals of the National Secondary School Volleyball Championships in Palmerston North.
Western Heights, the top-ranked side, lost to South Auckland's De La Salle College 3-1 in their quarter-final yesterday.
The dramatic game relegated the Rotorua schoolto the playoffs for fifth to eighth place.
Meanwhile, three Tauranga teams have progressed to the semifinals which will see Otumoetai and Mount Maunganui playing off and Tauranga Boys' College facing De La Salle College.
On the girls' side of the draw, Waimea College (Nelson) will play Mount Maunganui in one semifinal while 2013 champions Otumoetai will face second-ranked Rangitoto College (Auckland).
