Rotorua police are making inquiries after a vehicle crashed into a creek in Western Heights.

A police spokeswoman said police were called to the creek on Steeles Lane about 11.15am.

"A driver went off the road and into the creek. The vehicle is still in the creek, the driver does not appear to be.

"Police are on scene making inquiries to locate the driver or owner of the vehicle."

She said she wasn't sure what the circumstances surrounding the incident were.
