Update:

Police are still trying to work out what was the cause of a report involving a man being thrown from a moving car on State Highway 2.

Emergency services were called to the incident, which happened near the intersection of Maketu Rd about 12.25pm, but most units have since
been stood down, a police northern communications spokesman said.

The matter was understood to have been a domestic incident.

It was not clear if the man suffered any injuries, and if so, how serious they were, the spokesman said.
