“We wanted to find a way for people with sets of skills to engage in the community somehow, and we thought what better way of doing it than a talent show,” Stewart said.
“There are three categories for entry. You can enter as a soloist, small group (2-6 people) or large group (7-20 people).”
People and groups need to register online before midnight, Sunday, May 3.

The Youth Talent Quest will take place on Monday, May 18, from 6pm at the Sir Howard Morrison Centre, kicking off local celebrations of national Youth Week.
Councillor Te Rika Temara-Benfell believes it will be a great opportunity for youth to perform and showcase their talents.
“These types of kaupapa are so important for our rangatahi, and it’s awesome to see them being championed by our very own youth council.
“Beyond the whakataetae, it’s great to see our rangatahi have a space to share their pūkenga, talents and passions with our hāpori. Kaua e whakamā, karawhiua!”
A range of prizes available on the night is sponsored by Rotorua businesses, including vouchers from Redwoods Treewalk Rotorua, Polynesian Spa, Skyline Rotorua, Motion Entertainment, Rotorua Duck Tours, The Wall and Basement Cinema, petrol vouchers and more.
The national Youth Week (May 18–24) theme is “Our voice matters! We deserve to be heard – Taringa Whakarongo! Te reo o ngā taiohi", which is a perfect fit for a Youth Talent Quest.
