“While completing this upgrade, we’re also replacing poles and improving overhead conductors and network equipment to strengthen reliability for the future.”
Brown said power companies were to inform their customers about the outages.
He said the outage on Monday was extended due to an older cable requiring more attention than anticipated.
Without this issue, power would have been restored at the scheduled time of 4pm. Power was restored about 7pm.
The estimated time for restoration today was also 4pm, but power was restored at 6pm.
“When we quote restoration times in our communications, these are always estimates that we endeavour to meet.
“From time to time, unforeseen issues can arise that push these times out, and we apologise for that inconvenience.”
Brown said the network company understood how much people relied on power in their daily lives.
“Safety and reliability are always our top priorities when working on the electricity network, and our crews work hard to meet the restoration times we publish.”
