Two seriously injured in crash on State Highway 5

Two people have been taken to Rotorua Hospital in a serious condition, following a crash between a truck and car on State Highway 5.

The crash happened just before 3.30pm today about 50m past the intersection with Old Waiotapu Rd.

A Rotorua Daily Post photographer at the scene said the car's tail end was badly crushed.

He said ambulance and fire had left the scene but police remained, and the car was not blocking the road.
