Top boxers to entertain at champs

Fighters from across the country will go toe-to-toe in Rotorua during the Central North Island Boxing Association Championships.

The annual championships are being held in Rotorua today at Selwyn Primary School, on Old Quarry Rd.

The first session will start at 1pm and the second session at 6pm.

Central North Island Boxing Association president Rex Jenkins said people who came to watch could expect some fierce fights.

"You can expect to see some great boxing, some really good bouts," he said.

He said up to 35 competitive bouts would be held across the two sessions today.

Jenkins said plenty of great fighters would be on display, despite the country's top boxers competing at the Commonwealth Games.

He said fighters would range in age from 10 to 40 years old.
