A magnitude 5.2 earthquake has struck near Tokoroa.
GNS Science says the earthquake hit at 1.05pm about 15km southeast of Tokoroa at a depth of 199km.
Despite the depth of the earthquake, it caused buildings to sway in Hawke's Bay and was also felt in Wellington and as far south as Nelson.
