The man and woman accused of killing Taupo 3-year-old Moko Sayviah Rangitoheriri have pleaded guilty to manslaughter and ill treating a child.

Tania Shailer, 26, and David William Haerewa, 43, appeared in the High Court at Rotorua this morning in front of Justice Graham Lang.

The pair had previously pleaded not guilty to manslaughter, ill treating a child and murder.

The public gallery was full of family members who sat silently crying. Haerewa kept his head lowered throughout the court appearance while Shailer stared straight ahead, showing little emotion.

The pair were remanded in custody and will next appear for sentencing on June 27.
