The six Te Arawa kapa haka teams competing at next year's Te Matatini now know when they will perform during the festival.

A total of 46 teams from 13 regions across New Zealand and Australia have qualified to compete at the 2019 Te Matatini ki Te Ao competition hosted by Te Whanganui-a-Tara collective of the Wellington Māori Cultural Society, Ngāti Raukawa ki te Tonga, Ngāti Toa and Te Āti Awa.

The competition will take place in Wellington from February 20 to 24 at the Westpac Stadium.

The live draw was completed last week from Te Herenga Waka Marae in Wellington.

Te Mātārae I Ōrehu won this year's Te Arawa Kapa Haka Regional Festival held in March. Joining them at the national competition representing the rōhe will be Te Pikikōtuku o Rongomai, Tūhourangi-Ngāti Wāhiao, Ngāti Rangiwēwehi, Ngāti Whakaue, and Te Hikuwai.
