Tickets are selling fast for February's Taupo Summer Concert featuring some of the biggest bands of the 70s and 80s.
The annual Taupo Summer Concert has seen the likes of Pat Benatar, Bachman & Turner, America, The Dobbie Brothers and the Little River Band rock the Taupo Amphitheatre in unique
afternoon concerts in front of 28,000 concert fans for the past two years.
The 2014 Taupo Summer Concert is set for another sell-out crowd with legendary British rock band 10cc - and for the first time in NZ - Starship, featuring Mickey Thomas and rock royalty Lynyrd Skynyrd taking to the stage on Saturday February 8.
Taupo Summer Concert chief executive Amanda Calvert said more than 8000 tickets had already been purchased, with the cheaper local-only tickets almost sold out.
"While we work hard to bring the best of international classic rock to our region, and believe that we offer exceptional value for money, it's also very important to us that we deliver a fantastic overall concert experience for everyone."
She said some of the improvements for next year's concert would be better sound, improved viewing on the embankment and an additional big screen set up in Riverside Park.
