Tamati Coffey was live from Rotorua this morning.

The former Rotorua resident was in the city as part of his farewell tour for television show Breakfast.

Several locals went to Ohinemutu to watch the filming and get involved.

The TVNZ star announced last week he was leaving the morning news show so he can be in England with his partner, Tim Smith. He has spent this week doing one of his well-known weather road trips for his Tamati Take Off Tour.

Coffey said his TVNZ bosses had given him a "bit of a free run'' for his last week on the show. He went to three different places, Lower Hutt, Southland and Rotorua.

The television crew set up in Ohinemutu from 5am this morning and Tamati was doing live crosses to the show from 6am to 9am.

Whakatane's Lili Latham, who was a contestant on New Zealand's Got Talent, also came and gave a performance.
