Kane Radford finished 14th at his first Fina 10km Open Water World Cup event of the year.
The Rotorua open water swimmer will spend the next couple of weeks in Canada racing in world cup events.
The series features the best open water swimmers in the world.
Radford will compete
in three races, the first of which was held yesterday at Lake Saint-Jean in Canada.
He finished 14th with a time of 1hr 59min 28.5sec, about 3min behind the winner Andreas Waschburger from Germany.
