Super 8 cultural festival wraps up for 2017

The Super 8 Cultural Festival hosted by Rotorua Boys' High School came to a close on Saturday afternoon.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Super 8 partnership between eight North Island boys' high schools - Rotorua, Gisborne, Hamilton, Napier, New Plymouth, Palmerston North and Tauranga.

More than 500 boys travelled to Rotorua to compete in a variety of events from Kapa Haka to painting.

Rotorua Boys' High School deputy principal Fred Whata said this year they had strived to get the best judges and that the competition would be tough.

For the Super 8 schools the competition doesn't end here with sporting rivalry carrying on throughout the year.
