Successful launch for Rotorua's Skax label

Rotorua's newest clothing designers are optimistic their new high-fashion brand will take off after a successful launch at the weekend.
Skax was designed by local 22-year-olds Zach O'Neill and Andre Bidois with local logo designer Nathan Mora.
It was launched at Serious Fun on Tutanekai St on Saturday.
They originally started the brand by making stickers for their cars and phones because they liked the word Skax, which means "stud" or "well-groomed male".
But about a year-and-a-half ago, they decided to turn it into a clothing brand.
Now their first line of T-shirts is on sale and they already have plans for more apparel. Mr O'Neill said they were optimistic the brand would take off.
"The launch went really well. It was way better than I thought it would be."
He said the best part was seeing the brand they had created on sale in a shop. "We've had some really good feedback so far."
The T-shirts are available to buy at Serious Fun stores in Rotorua and Tauranga. A website will be launched in a few weeks.
